Each year I got one. A flower from my daddy on St. Patrick’s Day.
It was always a green carnation. I knew he wouldn’t forget. It was his way of making the day special since St. Patrick is his namesake. So funny how a simple thing like tradition can make us feel so special and rooted. I think that’s why St. Patrick’s Day is always so important and memorable for many, because of tradition.
Another great memory for me on St. Patrick’s Day was visiting Fredericksburg, Va. just a few years ago. It was a great day and we learned a lot about St. Patrick and the Irish Brigade ( Civil War).
Isn’t it fitting too, that St. Patrick gets his own day to be remembered and honored as a saint by all- even though he’s not an official saint of the Church? I think it is. He was a great saint and accomplished so much in bringing Christianity to Ireland.

I’ll be teaching a color lesson this coming week and this post was a huge resource of color mixing fun! And although it isn’t specifically St. Patrick we often do think of rainbows along with St. Patrick’s Day. So I thought is was quite fitting.
